Omarion Hampton had 265 total yards and all five of UNC’s touchdowns to power the UNC offense while the defense owned the line of scrimmage for the second straight week as the Heels went into Tallahassee and obliterated Florida State, 35-11. The win was head coach Mack Brown’s first over the ‘Noles, where he once played, in his coaching career, and UNC’s second win in a row.
The game started pretty slowly, with two three-and-outs. Both offenses seemed to get things somewhat going on their ensuing drives: FSU took advantage of great field position to nail a long field goal, and UNC got a nice kick return to give them good field position, with which they marched down the field before getting stood up at the goal line and turning the ball over on downs.
