CHAPEL HILL—Tar Heel head coach Roy Williams was an assistant coach for the United States at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, serving on the staff of fellow Tar Heel alumnus Larry Brown.
The Americans took home the bronze medal, leaving disappointed. Still, Williams has great memories of the trip and still uses aspects of the Olympic experience in his own coaching career.
Adam Lucas spoke recently with Williams about the 2004 Olympics and Harrison Barnes' upcoming bid to win a gold medal this month in Rio.
Adam Lucas: What were some of your favorite moments from your 2004 Olympic experience?
