On the biggest play of the biggest game of what may turn out to be Carolina’s biggest football season ever, Larry Fedora did exactly what he’s done in must-score situations for the past four years: he watched his Tar Heels figure out a way to get the ball to Quinshad Davis.
With Virginia Tech holding a 27-24 lead in overtime two weeks ago in Blacksburg, Carolina had third and goal. A touchdown meant the game and a Coastal Division title. Failing to convert would likely have forced Fedora to kick a game-tying field goal and play an unpredictable second overtime.
