Box Score CHAPEL HILL—No. 19 North Carolina began the 2021-22 season with an 83-67 win over Loyola Maryland on Tuesday night in the Smith Center, leading the game from start to finish. Caleb Love scored 22 points and Brady Manek added 20 for the Tar Heels in their season opener under first-year head coach Hubert Davis.
Davis is the fourth Carolina head coach who also played at UNC, and he is the school's first Black head coach. The Tar Heels improved to 100-12 in season openers, including 16 consecutive wins.
