Kenny Williams’ sophomore season with the Tar Heels is likely over. Coach Roy Williams announced on Wednesday after his team’s win over NC State that his sophomore guard would be undergoing knee surgery and is likely to miss 4-6 weeks.
The injury to Williams’ knee occurred on Tuesday in practice before the NC State game. He was in a suit on crutches for the game in Raleigh. Williams was forced into a starter role for most of this season with Theo Pinson out with an injury of his own.
While Williams’ offense can be made up for, his defense, particularly on the perimeter, will definitely be missed by the Tar Heels.
