Cameron Johnson, a graduate student from Moon Township, Pa., was named the winner of the Dean Smith Most Valuable Player Award Wednesday evening at the University of North Carolina men's basketball team's 2018-19 awards ceremony.
Johnson led the team in scoring at 16.9 points per game, made 96 three-pointers – second most in UNC history – and led the ACC in three-point shooting at 45.7 percent. The 6-9 shooting guard was the only player in the top 10 in the ACC in field goal, three-point and free throw percentages, and was UNC's second leading rebounder at 5.
