Carter Jenkins shot a second round 68 to lead the University of North Carolina to fifth-place after two rounds at the Cabarrus County Irish Creek Collegiate Saturday at the Club at Irish Creek.
Jenkins, a junior from Raleigh, was 4 over par after four holes in the second round, but played the final 14 holes in 5 under, including birdies on three of the final five holes. Jenkins, one of eight players who are under par after two rounds, is tied for seventh with a 1-under 141.
Carolina shot 295 in the first round on Saturday morning, then played the afternoon session 11 shots better.
