North Carolina’s job for the rest of the season is to take advantage of the opportunities presented in front of them and hope that it is enough to somehow make it into the NCAA Tournament, and today they did just that. Virginia came into town after suffering a loss to Duke in Charlottesville, and left with another L by thanks to the Tar Heels.
Things started off as good as they could’ve — UNC immediately jumped out to a 21-2 lead in the first nine and a half minutes of the game. It was obvious early on that the days of Tony Bennett’s frustrating pack line defense were over, and here now is a Cavaliers defense that had no idea how to deal with the Heels’ athleticism.
