FORT WORTH, Texas – North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell is an official candidate to win the 2020 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award, announced Tuesday by the Davey O'Brien Foundation.
By virtue of being placed on the Davey O'Brien QB Class of 2020, Howell becomes a candidate for this prestigious college quarterback award.
Howell leads the Atlantic Coast Conference and is tied for fourth nationally with 24 passing touchdowns. The Indian Trail, N.C., native set a program record with six passing touchdowns and 550 passing yards against Wake Forest on Nov. 14.
He became just the third FBS player since 2000 to throw for 550 yards and six touchdowns and also score a rushing touchdown in a single game.
