CHAPEL HILL – University of North Carolina freshman outfielder Vance Honeycutt was named third team All-America by D1Baseball, the organization announced Friday. He is the second member of the Diamond Heels to earn All-America distinction this season, joining fourth-year sophomore Davis Palermo (Perfect Game/third team).
With the award, Honeycutt becomes the 52nd different player in program history to receive All-America distinction. He also is the first Tar Heel freshman to be selected to an All-America team since Aaron Sabato was elected by three publications in 2019.
Honeycutt had previously been named Freshman All-America by Collegiate Baseball, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Perfect Game.
