CHAPEL HILL—Behind a tournament single-game record seven assists from Katie Hoeg, top-seeded North Carolina kicked off the ACC Women's Lacrosse Championship with a 19-6 victory over No. 8 seed Louisville Wednesday at Dorrance Field in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
UNC (16-0) advances to play the winner of the No. 4 Notre Dame-No. 5 Duke contest at noon on Friday in the semifinals.
Hoeg's seven assists also were a career high as she broke her own tournament record of six assists, set in the quarterfinals of the 2019 tournament against Virginia Tech. UNC totaled 14 assists as a team, matching a tournament record that the Tar Heels also set in their 2019 tourney game against the Hokies.
