Freshman Austin Hitt shot a 1-under-par 71 and the University of North Carolina men’s golf team shot a 1-over 289 and stands in seventh place after day one of the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational Sunday at the Isleworth Golf and Country Club.
Hitt made a team-low three birdies, but bogeyed only two holes en route to his 71. The Longwood, Fla., native is tied for ninth place.
Senior Zach Martin, playing in the No. 1 position for the second straight tournament, led UNC with birdies, but had a triple bogey on the 10th hole and finished with an even-par 72.
