The University of North Carolina's Austin Greaser defeated Travis Vick of the University of Texas 2&1 in the semifinals of the 2021 U.S. Amateur Saturday at Oakmont Country Club.
Greaser, a rising junior at UNC, will play Michigan State senior James Piot in the 36-hole championship match on Sunday, beginning at 10 a.m. Piot defeated Nick Gabrelcik of North Florida, 4&3.
Greaser is bidding to become the first Tar Heel to win the U.S. Amateur since Harvie Ward won as a post-graduate in 1955 and 1956.
The Vandalia, Ohio, native won eight of 17 holes played in Saturday's semifinal, while Vick won six.
