Ryan Gerard shot 67 Saturday morning and a 6-under-par 66 in the afternoon and is one of four Tar Heels in the top 10 after 36 holes at the Rod Myers Invitational at the Duke University Golf Club.
Carolina shot 14 under par in the opening round and 11 under in the second to post 25-under-551. The Tar Heels have an eight-shot lead over NC State (-17). North Florida is third at 8 under and Duke and Virginia Tech are tied for fourth at 7 under.
Gerard is at 11-under 133 and has a two-stroke lead over Maximilian Steinlechner of NC State.
