Ryan Gerard rode a 6-under-par 66 to second place and Ryan Burnett fired a final round 67 to lead the University of North Carolina to an 11th-place finish in the John Burns Intercollegiate at the Wailua Golf Course.
Gerard's third round included seven birdies and one bogey, which came on his 17th hole and knocked him out of the lead. New Mexico's Sam Choi eagled the 18th hole to beat Gerard by three strokes. It was Gerard's second career runner-up finish (also at Notre Dame last year).
Carolina shot 8-under-par today, which equaled the sixth-best round in the 21-team field.
