Game One Of Weekend Baseball Series Goes To Virgina

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia hit solo home runs in second, seventh and eighth innings and the No. 11 Cavaliers defeated North Carolina, 4-2, at Disharoon Park on Friday night.

The Diamond Heels (23-15, 8-11 ACC) threatened in the first as Mac Horvath doubled off the right field wall and Danny Serretti followed with a one-out walk but stranded him. Virginia took advantage of a two-out walk in the bottom half of the inning to take an early 1-0 lead and threatened to add more.

However, Max Carlson struck out Chris Newell with runners at second and third to end the inning.
