SPARKS, Md. – US Lacrosse and U.S. women’s senior team head coach Ricky Fried on Wednesday announced the 18-player U.S. Women’s National Team that will compete in the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Women’s World Cup, July 12-22 in Guildford, England.
Four University of North Carolina players made the squad: midfielder Marie McCool (class of 2018), midfielder Laura Zimmerman (2012), defender Kristen Carr (2010) and defender Jennifer Russell (2010). McCool is one of two current college players to make the cut, the other being fellow junior Gussie Johns, a goalie at USC.
