Peter Fountain, a freshman from Raleigh playing in his first collegiate tournament, shot a 4-under-par 68 to lead the University of North Carolina to an even-par finish in round one of the Camp Creek Seminole Invitational Sunday in Watersound, Fla.
It was UNC's first competition since winning the General Hackler Championship in Myrtle Beach on March 10, 2020.
The Tar Heels shot 288 and are fifth in the 10-team, all-Atlantic Coast Conference field hosted by Florida State at the Camp Creek Golf Club.
Clemson had an 8-under 64 by Jacob Bridgeman and a pair of 3-under 69s from Colby Patton and Kyle Cottam to take the day one lead at 12-under 276.
