Former North Carolina basketball head coach and longtime assistant Bill Guthridge passed away Tuesday night at his home. Guthridge was 77-years-old when he passed, UNC confirmed the death on Wednesday.

He got his start at Kansas State in 1962 and joined Dean Smith as an assistant in 1967. Guthridge discovered Michael Jordan and played a huge role in getting him to go to UNC.
