Former UNC basketball player P.J. Hairston was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Wrightsville Beach for outstanding warrants.
Wrightsville Beach Police Chief Dan House said Hairston, 24, of Greensboro, was arrested for outstanding warrants in Orange County for “harassing communications.”
Kevin Poteat was driving a car registered to Hairston and was stopped by officers following a disturbance at a Wings Beachwear store in Wrightsville Beach. Poteat was arrested for driving while intoxicated, House said.
After running the tag on the car and finding out Hairston was the owner and had an outstanding warrant, the officers asked Poteat for Hairston’s location and Hairston was later arrested on the beach.
