Tim Beckman, who lost his head coaching job at Illinois after a university investigation found that he mistreated players, has become a volunteer assistant coach at North Carolina, the Champaign (Ill.) News-Gazette reported on Tuesday night.
Illinois fired Beckman nearly one year ago after a university investigation concluded that Beckman made efforts “to deter injury reporting” and pressured injured players to “continue playing despite injuries.” Larry Fedora, the UNC coach, shares a history with Beckman. They worked together at Oklahoma State in 2007.
Beckman's position raises some immediate questions.
