Week three of the college football season brought the Tar Heels back to Kenan Stadium for their home opener against James Madison. After defeating Illinois last Saturday, the team was eager to play in front of their fans in the Tar Pit. The game started out as a back-and-forth shoot-out, with both teams combining for almost 42 points in the first quarter. As the game went on, Carolina took control on both sides of the football to secure a 56-28 victory.
The win over James Madison was driven by the outstanding play of Mitch Trubisky and the offense.
