Five Tar Heels Score in 5-1 Win At VCU

RICHMOND, Va. – The third-ranked North Carolina field hockey team got goals from five different players en route to a 5-1 win at VCU Sunday afternoon. UNC improved to 13-1 on the season with the win, while VCU fell to 4-10.

“I’m proud of our team,” UNC coach Karen Shelton said. “We started a little slow – credit to VCU for that. But we were able to get moving, get scoring from a lot of different players, and earn the win.”

The win was the 600th for UNC’s Karen Shelton, who is in her 35th season as the Tar Heels’ head coach and now has a career record of 600-151-9, all at North Carolina.
