CHAPEL HILL—Top-seeded North Carolina got three goals from Andie Aldave and 10 saves from Taylor Moreno and beat eighth-seeded Stony Brook, 8-5, in an women's lacrosse NCAA Tournament quarterfinal on Thursday night at Dorrance Field.
With the victory, the Tar Heels advance to their 10th trip to the NCAA semifinals in the last 13 years, their fourth in a row and their 13th overall. UNC has reached the final four weekend in 1997, 1998, 2002, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022.
Carolina will play Northwestern, which beat Syracuse in the quarterfinals, in an NCAA semifinal at either 3 or 5 p.
