Mitch Trubisky had been prodded and pricked all week—his footwork, his eyes, his patience, his field vision, his touch. He knew there was nothing wrong and his coaches did as well. But he just hadn’t quite proven it the week before against Georgia in the Tar Heels’ season opening loss on the bright stage of national TV and in a Georgia Dome chocked to the rafters with ravenous Bulldog fans.
“It was the opener for everyone, not just Mitch,” offensive coordinator Chris Kapilovic noted last week. “A lot of guys, even four-year starters, made some uncharacteristic mistakes in that environment and in pressure situations.
