Tar Heel freshman Dougie Ergood shot a 3-under-par 68 for the second consecutive day and finished tied for fifth at the Louisville Cardinal Challenge Sunday at the U of L Golf Club.
Carolina shot 5 over in the final round and finished the three-day event at 284-282-289–855 (3 over par). Duke won the tournament at 37 under 815. Alex Smalley of Duke won the individual competition at 16 under 197.
Louisville (-20), Wake Forest (-13), South Florida (8) and Mississippi State (-2) finished in the top five.
Ergood tied for fifth at 6 under 207. He opened with an even-par 71 on Friday, then shot back-to-back 68s on the weekend.
