SPARKS, MD.—Eight current and former University of North Carolina players led the way as US Lacrosse named the 2017 United States Women’s National Team on Sunday night following a three-day tryout at the organization’s national team training center.
No school had as many players on the team as Carolina, with Maryland ranking second with six and Syracuse third with five.
Current Tar Heels Maggie Bill (UNC ’17) and Marie McCool (’18), both of whom are midfielders, and goalie Caylee Waters (’17) are three of the nine current collegians on the squad.
