CHAPEL HILL—Six Tar Heels scored multiple goals as the second-ranked University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team dominated sixth-ranked Northwestern, 20-9, on a warm Sunday afternoon at Dorrance Field.
Carolina's offense was at its best in the second and fourth quarters, outscoring the Wildcats by a 6-1 margin in the second and a 9-3 margin in the fourth period. UNC blitzed Northwestern, 12-5, in the second half.
UNC beat the Wildcats for the eighth consecutive time and the 10th time in the last 11 meetings in the series.
Graduate transfer Sam Geiersbach (Richmond) scored a season-high five goals on just seven shots and added an assist for a season-high six points for Carolina.
