INDIANPOLIS, IND. - Two excellent sessions of diving are in the books for the women's 3-meter springboard competition at the U.S. Olympic Team Diving Trials in Indianapolis with University of North Carolina junior Elissa Dawson earning her spot in the championship final slated for Sunday.
Dawson, a Durham, N.C. native, and an All-America in two events at the 2016 NCAA Championships, placed seventh in Tuesday's preliminary/quarterfinals with a score of 288.90. She came back even stronger in Tuesday night's semifinals at the IUPUI Natatorium and now has a cumulative score of 602.10 points heading into Sunday's final, which will begin at 4:50 p.
