NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - North Carolina senior Sara Daavettila closed out her final fall tournament in style by winning the Oracle ITA Fall National Championship singles title on Sunday at Newport Beach Tennis Club.
Daavettila, the No. 8 seed from Williamston, Michigan, defeated No. 6 seed Anna Turati from Texas, 7-6 (5), 6-1. The win wrapped up an impressive showing that saw her notch six victories in the event with five coming against top-50 ranked players.
Daavettila knocked off 2019 NCAA Singles Champion Estela Perez-Somarriba of Miami in the semifinals and eighth ranked Anna Rogers of NC State in the second round.
