CHAMPAIGN, Illinois - The 2021-22 North Carolina women's tennis season has officially come to an end. Sophomore Fiona Crawley was the final competitor remaining at the Division I NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Championship, but she bowed out admirably in the semifinals after a 6-4, 6-4, loss to Stanford's Connie Ma on Friday afternoon at the indoor courts on the campus of the University of Illinois.
Ranked 55th nationally entering the tournament, Crawley went unscathed through round rounds, winning each match in straight sets. Friday was a different story for the sophomore standout from San Antonio, Texas, who dropped the opening set 6-4.
