CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 2 North Carolina (3-0-0) scored five unanswered goals, which included a brace from Emily Colton, to power past Illinois (2-1-0) 5-1 Thursday evening in the Midwest.
The match was the first played at Demirjian Park, Illinois' state-of-the-art facility completed over the summer.
Illinois took the initial lead in the fourth minute of the game after the Illini looped a ball over the head of Claudia Dickey to take a 1-0 lead.
Just a minute later, Emily Murphy answered on the counter attack when Libby Moore sailed a ball over the Illinois defense before Murphy slotted the ball into the back-left of the Illinois net to even the match.
