Clark And Kelly Highlight Tar Heel Performances In Cary

The UNC men’s tennis team opened the 2015 fall season in Cary, N.C., over the weekend, winning three flights (2 singles, 1 doubles), the most of any participating team. On Sunday, Tar Heels competed in all three singles finals, with senior Brett Clark and sophomore Robert Kelly emerging with straight set victories.

Clark defeated NC State’s Nick Horton 7-6(5), 6-2 to capture the A Flight title of the Cary 4+1 “James Bonk” Invitational. The Naples, Fla., native improved his career singles record to 86-24, inching closer to the top 10 of the program’s all-time wins list.

Kelly defeated opponents from Notre Dame, Auburn, Old Dominion and, on Sunday, Wake Forest’s Maksim Kahn in route to the C Flight Singles title.
