Charlotte Smith knows she’ll be in good company when she’s inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame Friday night. Smith, a former women’s basketball standout at UNC and current coach at Elon, is the niece of NC State legend David Thompson and a former player and assistant coach for Tar Heels coach Sylvia Hatchell. Thompson and Hatchell are Hall of Famers. (Shelby Star)
