PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Hayley Carter and Whitney Kay of the North Carolina women’s tennis team have advanced to the semifinals of the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championship.
The Tar Heel duo upset top-seeded Brooke Austin and Kourtney Keegan of Florida, 8-2, in the quarterfinals on Friday. Carter and Kay will face Georgia's Mariana Gould and Ellen Perez in the semifinals Saturday. Gould and Perez booked their ticket to the semis by defeating Duke's qualifying doubles team Ellyse Hamlin and Beatrice Capra 8-4 in the quarterfinals.
In the Main Draw Singles back draw, Carter breezed past Taylor Ng of Dartmouth, 6-1, 6-2, and later came back and outlasted Luisa Stefani of Pepperdine in three sets, 4-6, 6-0, 6-4.
