LAS VEGAS - Top seed Hayley Carter won a pair of singles matches to highlight the North Carolina women’s tennis effort on Friday at the Freeman Memorial Tennis Championship at Fertitta Tennis Complex.
Ranked sixth nationally, Carter won two straight-set matches to reach the quarterfinals. She will face Krista Hardebeck of Stanford on Saturday.
Eighth seed and 68th ranked Jessie Aney and No. 88 Whitney Kay also earned wins in round one on Friday, however, both were upended in the second round of competition in the desert.
