TEMPE, Ariz. – North Carolina’s Hayley Carter and Whitney Kay are included on the 2016 ITA Collegiate All-Star Team, announced by The Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday.
Carter became the first women’s player since Stanford’s Nicole Gibbs in 2012 to be ranked No. 1 in singles and doubles at the same time. Carter entered the 2016 NCAA Championship as the top-seeded player in the singles tournament and advanced all the way to the final, before falling to Collins. Carter and Collins were scheduled to meet in the final of the 2015 Oracle/ITA Masters, but due to injury, Carter was unable to compete in the match.
