FLUSHING, N.Y. - Hayley Carter and Whitney Kay of the North Carolina women’s tennis team picked up a quarterfinal victory on Friday during the second day of play at the National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Carter/Kay took the early lead in the match with a dominating 6-1 first set. The fourth-ranked duo dropped the second set to Virginia’s Danielle Collins and Meghan Kelley 4-6, but fought back in the third to take the match with a 10-6 victory.
Jessie Aney and Kate Vialle fell in their consolation match 6-7 (2), 6-1, 6-10 to Caroline Wegner and Seda Arantekin of TCU.
