The North Carolina fencing teams came away from the rescheduled Philadelphia Invitational Sunday with matching 3-2 records. The women scored victories over New Jersey Institute of Technology (20-7), Haverford (22-5) and Drew (25-2), while the men beat Lafayette (21-6), Haverford (17-10) and Drew (22-5).
In women’s foil, freshman Sydney Persing led the Tar Heels with a 9-4 record. In women’s sabre, three UNC competitors had outstanding days: Noa Allen was 13-2, Meredith Bozentka was 12-3 and Sarah Hanvy was 11-4.
In women’s epee, both Erin O’Neill and Sara Moreno finished 9-6.
