After six days of tryouts, UNC coach Anthony Brock has selected 32 student-athletes to make up the 2016-17 Tar Heel novice rowing squad. This year’s process began with a group of 135 at the general interest meeting, and 130 tried out for the team, which includes rowers and coxswains who are in their first year of collegiate competition.
“All of the input from tryouts says this is our fastest group yet,” said Brock, who is starting his third year as coach of Carolina’s novice squad, “In addition to the strong recruited class, I can’t wait to see what this team of first-year rowers can do on the water.
