CHAPEL HILL - Stephanie Watts scored 28 points to lead North Carolina to an 80-35 victory over Alabama A&M on Thursday night from Carmichael Arena.
Watts, the 2016 ACC Freshman of the Year, caught fire in the second half with 17 points on 5-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc. She hauled in 11 rebounds for her eighth career double-double, and tied a personal best with six makes from three-point land.
North Carolina scored 16 of the first 18 points of the game and never looked back in the lopsided victory, improving the Tar Heels to a 2-0 record early in the season.
