WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina - Despite another terrific effort from freshman Stephanie Watts, the North Carolina women’s basketball team lost 75-63 at Wake Forest on Thursday night from the Lawrence Joel Coliseum.
Watts registered her fourth double-double of her rookie season at North Carolina (12-9, 2-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) with 24 points and 13 rebounds before fouling out with 1:16 left in the fourth quarter. Jamie Cherry added 18 for the Tar Heels.
Elisa Penna was instrumental in Wake Forest (10-9, 1-5) picking up its first ACC win with 18 points, while Ariel Stephenson had 16 points.
