CARY, N.C. - The North Carolina women’s tennis team wrapped up play at the 2015 Bonk Invite on Sunday at the Cary Tennis Center.
Sophomores Marika Akkerman and Cassandra Vazquez both reached the singles final in their respective bracket, but both came up short on Sunday in straight sets to a pair of ranked players from the University of Florida.
Akkerman fell to No. 32 Belinda Woolcock, 6-2, 7-6 (4) in the black bracket, while Vazquez lost 6-1, 6-2 to 24th-ranked Brianna Morgan in the blue bracket.
Three Tar Heel competitors did earn victories on Sunday, including freshmen Jessie Aney and Chloe Ouellet-Pizer.
