GREENVILLE, S.C. - The final day of the Furman Fall Classic saw North Carolina’s Makenna Jones and Rachael James-Baker fall short in singles matches in their respective flight championship matches.
Jones, a freshman from Greenville, South Carolina, defeated a pair of top-35 players in the tournament to reach the Flight 1 final, but wound up on the wrong end of a 6-3, 6-2, decision against No. 8 Jasmin Lee of Mississippi State.
In the flight 4 finale, James-Baker fell 6-2, 6-0 to Vanderbilt’s Emily Smith.
Cassandra Vazquez earned a 6-3, 6-3, victory over Johanna Silva in the consolation final of flight 5.
