SEATTLE - Defending champion North Carolina showed why it was selected as the No. 2 seed in the 2019 ITA National Women's Tennis Team Indoor Championship with a 4-0 shutout of No. 9 Oklahoma State in a first-round match from Nordstrom Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Washington.
All matches on Friday started with singles in an attempt to get all eight first-round matches completed before the greater Seattle area is blanketed with a storm that is expected to drop as much as a foot of snow in the region.
Carolina's top three singles lines took to the court first with Duke and Ohio State's match occupying the other three courts as their battle went the distance.
