Wednesday was opening night in the Cape Cod League, and 12 Tar Heels will be spending their summers playing in the prestigious Massachusetts wooden bat league. In all, twenty-five Carolina baseball players will be competiting in summer leagues in 2017 - four in the Coastal Plain League, four in the Cal Ripken League, two each in the New England Collegiate League and the Northwoods League, and one in the California Collegiate League.
In addition to the 25 Tar Heels playing in summer leagues, Gianluca Dalatri will be competiting with the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, which trains in Cary, North Carolina.
