CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Two UNC battery mates were selected Tuesday on day three of the 2023 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.
Pitcher Max Carlson was taken in the 12th round by the Boston Red Sox, while the New York Yankees drafted catcher Tomas Frick in the 15th round.
The teammates were the second and third players from UNC drafted this year. Mac Horvath was the Baltimore Orioles' second-round pick.
Carlson finished his junior season with a 5-2 record and a 5.45 ERA. He averaged a strikeout per inning and nine strikeouts per nine innings, fanning 76 batters in 76 innings pitched.
