Ryan Burnett and David Ford combined to shoot 7 under par to lead the University of North Carolina to a 4-under-par finish and second place after one round at the Calusa Cup Sunday at the Calusa Pines Golf Club in Naples, Fla.
The Tar Heels shot 4-under 284, three strokes behind Wake Forest.
Burnett, a fifth-year senior from Lafayette, Calif., was 1 under at the turn and remained that way through 13 holes before making birdies on four of the last five holes to finish with a 4-under 68 to hold the individual 18-hole lead.
