CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Sophomore Nils Bruening scored four goals to pace No. 3 North Carolina to a 5-0 dismantling of 16th-ranked Boston College on Friday night at Fetzer Field.
Bruening wound up the most goals scored by a Carolina player since Ryan Kneipper tied the school record with five goals against Winthrop on Nov. 22, 2002.
Alan Winn scored the fifth and final goal for North Carolina, who improved to 7-1 on the season and a perfect 3-0 against the ACC.
Bruening came off the bench for the first time all season and responded with a pair of goals less than two minutes apart that put the Tar Heels in full control of the match in the first half.
