CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Tar Heel junior Meredith Bozentka used an outstanding season and a 12th-place finish at last Saturday’s NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals to earn a spot in the upcoming NCAA Fencing Championships, set for March 23-26 in Indianapolis, Ind. Bozentka qualified for the second year in a row.
An environmental studies major from Philadelphia, she finished 11th in women’s sabre at the 2016 NCAA Championships to earn honorable mention All-America honors.
Twenty-one Tar Heels qualified for and competed at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals March 11 in Easton, Pa. NCAA berths were then selected based on a combination of performance at NCAA regionals (60 percent) and season performance (40 percent), the latter of which is measured by Fencer’s Seeding Factor (FSF).
